Title: Information Office

Welcome to the Eastmain workcamp Information Office

Tour of the Information Office

Located at the entrance to the workcamp, the Information Office is a busy place, where you can find out more about the Eastmain-1 hydroelectric development project. A series of panels with photos and accompanying text describes the projects and its implications in a few minutes. Public relations personnel are always on hand to answer your questions and listen to your comments, as well.

Welcoming sessions for new workers

New workers at the Eastmain-1 jobsite are invited to attend a welcoming session when they arrive at the workcamp. The sessions are held from Monday to Saturday, at 4 p.m., at the Information Office. These 50-minute sessions are also offered to all visitors to Eastmain workcamp.

The subjects dealt with during the sessions are:

  • Services available in the workcamp
  • Rules governing community life
  • Safety on the jobsite
  • Work underway on the jobsite
  • The future of hydroelectric projects in Québec
  • Wide-screen presentation of explanatory videos
  • Distribution of an information kit and project souvenirs

Documentation and promotional items

During your tour of the Information Office, you can ask for written documentation about the Eastmain-1 project. You can also watch various informative videos on a wide screen. Some souvenirs, such as posters, maps, videos and other promotional items, are also available.

You can watch a videoclip showing life at the workcamp and the progress made on the project (November 2003 to June 2004). [WMV - 3.4 MB]

Jobsite tours

Work is underway on the Eastmain-1 hydroelectric development project. Safety rules are strictly enforced to keep workers and visitors safe. Touring the jobsite is prohibited unless prior authorization has been obtained. You must obtain the necessary authorizations before going to the gatehouse at the entrance to the workcamp and the jobsite.

Public relations personnel organize tours for workers and visitors to the workcamp on a regular basis.

Group tours can be organized, but the necessary arrangements must be made at the Information Office, first.
