Customer success stories
Molson stands out for its energy efficiency initiatives
|
Molson participates actively in Hydro-Québec's Industrial Initiatives Program Major Customers. Its energy-efficient projects have enabled it to reduce its electricity consumption by 7.5 GWh annually. |
Project 1: Reduction of compressed-air consumption on a production line
- Install a dozen low-pressure blowers using ambient air.
- Replace air nozzles with air knives optimized for certain applications.
- Optimize compressed-air consumption by installing solenoid valves, which close automatically during standby periods between operations.
Project 2: Reduction of discharge pressure in ammonia refrigerant loop
- Integrate two pumps equipped with variable-speed drives that modulate flow rate according to demand, thus supplying the plant with ammonia at a lower cost.
Project 3: Increase suction pressure of ammonia loop compressors
- Install programmable controllers on compressors to reduce energy used in ammonia compression.

I believe that all large industrial firms should set an example by trying to decrease their electricity consumption. The general public likes to see companies taking concrete steps to achieve this and considers them better corporate citizens as a result.
