  • Call 1 800 790-2424 and report the outage using our automated system (select 1). If Hydro-Québec is already aware of the outage, the system will tell you when we expect power to be restored. Otherwise, you will be transferred automatically to a Customer Service representative.
  • For other urgent concerns, select 2 ("for an emergency") and you will be transferred immediately to a representative. Give whatever details you have: damaged pole, severed line, tree down on a line, etc.

  • Unplug appliances that were running and electronic equipment (so they don't come on again when no one is home).
  • Do not unplug the refrigerator or freezer.
  • Leave one or two lights on.

  • Use a battery-operated radio to stay informed of the situation.
  • If it's cold outside, gather the whole family in one room and close interior doors.
  • If you open the refrigerator and freezer doors as little as possible, your food will keep for 24 to 48 hours.
