Anne-Hébert Substation

This project involves the construction of a transformer substation in the western part of the city of Québec area. The substations that serve this area will soon no longer have sufficient capacity to meet demand growth. The industrial park in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, for example, is supplied mainly by La Suète substation. It is becoming increasingly difficult to serve the industrial park adequately because of its heavy loads and distance from the substation.

The project is subject to the environmental impact assessment and review procedure laid out under Sections 31.1 and following of the Environmental Quality Act. According to a preliminary estimate, the Anne-Hébert substation and supply line, which are currently under construction, will cost a total of $73.7 million. Commissioning is scheduled for fall 2010.
