161/25-kV Waconichi (Mistissini) Substation and 161-kV Tie Line

The purpose of the project is to provide a secure supply of power to Mistissini to meet the growth in demand that the area has witnessed in recent years.

The transformer substation will be about 20 km east of the Cree community of Mistissini. It will be fenced and will cover an area of approximately 110 m x 140 m. The tie line will be 46 km long.

If the project receives the necessary government authorizations, land will be cleared in 2009 and construction will take place in 2010, with commissioning in 2011.

Note: Mistissini substation was renamed Waconichi substation.
