Title: Conditions for service

Subtitle: Service application

To be supplied with electricity at a new location, you must submit an application to Hydro-Québec before moving in.

In the case of residential service, you can make the request verbally or in writing. As the account holder, you must provide the following information:

the address to which the electricity will be supplied
your name and telephone number
your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
the date you want the service to start

For service other than residential, the application must generally be in writing. In addition to the above information (except the SIN), you must provide the following:

your Québec enterprise number (NEQ)
the load connected
how the electricity will be used
the power required

Note
Personal information is kept strictly confidential and only authorized personnel have access to it. Such information is protected under the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (R.S.Q., chap. A-2.1).

Subtitle: Contract expiry and cancellation

If the electricity is for domestic purposes, your contract must be for an initial period of at least one week. You may terminate the contract upon request, with seven days advance notice.

The initial period for anything other than domestic use (except short-term, temporary or public lighting service) is one year. You may terminate the contract upon request, with at least 30 days advance written notice.
