Grant for Existing Houses Benefits
Plan on renovating?
Find out about the Rénoclimat program
Under this program, homeowners who want to make their houses more energy-efficient can receive advice from an expert and a grant from Hydro-Québec.
Detached, semi-detached or row houses heated with electricity or a dual-energy system (Rate DT) are eligible.
Changes to EnerGuide for Houses service and new federal ecoENERGY Retrofit program
On May 12, 2006, the Government of Canada withdrew its financial support from the EnerGuide for Houses program. Hydro-Québec, in conjunction with Québec's Agence de l'efficacité énergétique (AEE), nonetheless continued to support the EnerGuide for Houses program by maintaining its grants to homeowners wishing to renovate.
On April 11, 2007, Natural Resources Canada announced new grants to customers wishing to have the energy efficiency of their houses rated, through the ecoENERGY Retrofit program. In Québec, the two programs have now been combined under the name Rénoclimat.
Please note that this change to the Program has no impact on the contest now underway, which will continue under the same terms and conditions, with only the Program name changed as required.

- The homeowner must be eligible for the program and for the ecoENERGY Retrofit grant in order to be eligible for the Hydro-Québec grant. However, Hydro-Québec uses its own grant calculation method based on the gain in the energy efficiency rating.Consequently, it is possible to receive an ecoENERGY grant but no Hydro-Québec grant, and vice-versa.
