Geothermal energy
Another option for heating and air conditioning!

What is a geothermal system?

A geothermal or geoexchange system is composed of an underground loop and a ground source heat pump that can be combined with a forced-air distribution system to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Is it a good option for me?

If you're looking for an alternative to your current electric heating system or a different way to heat and air condition your new house, a geoexchange system could well fit the bill. It can regulate the temperature in your home all year round and reduce your heating costs.

Geoexchange system

The geothermal heat pump uses the ground, groundwater, or both as a source of heat in winter and as a sink for the heat drawn from your home to keep it cool in summer.

Who can install it?

Because a geothermal system is more complex to design and install than a conventional one, it requires a contractor with specialized knowledge and experience in such systems. And before you decide to go geothermal, you should do a thorough analysis of the advantages, costs and requirements. A geoexchange system will certainly save energy, but it costs more to buy and install.

Take Advantage of Financial Assistance from Hydro-Québec

If you decide on a geothermal system, you can get a grant from Hydro-Québec. Additional financial assistance is available through the Novoclimat and Rénoclimat programs of Québec’s Agence de l’efficacité énergétique, as well as the ecoENERGY Retrofit program offered by Natural Resources Canada.
