Contributing Financially to Local and Regional Initiatives

Through its Integrated Enhancement Program (IEP), Hydro-Québec contributes financially to initiatives in municipalities affected by its major transmission projects (lines and substations) that are subject to environmental assessment under Québec's Environment Quality Act.

The IEP program reserves 1% of the capitalized cost of future Hydro-Québec facilities for environmental initiatives and regional and Aboriginal development.

Some Examples and Statistics

Since 1985, close to 1,000 IEP initiatives have been implemented in connection with various projects, for total investments of nearly $234 million, over $97 million of which was contributed by Hydro-Québec.
