1. What browsers and versions does the OASIS site support?
The OASIS site was tested with Netscape 3 and Internet Explorer 4. Netscape 3 sometimes fails to send the user's language selection. The site then displays in both French and English rather than selecting the correct language.

Older browsers like Mosaic and Netscape 1.2 are not suitable for the OASIS site since they do not support tables, which are used extensively to display OASIS data.

3. How frequently are the Path diagram's power flow values refreshed?
Every minute.

4. How can I quickly view a path's single-line diagram and characteristics?
By clicking first on Path diagram and then on the point of service.

5. How can I quickly view a path's TTC?
By clicking first on Path diagram and then on the power flow.

6. Why are power flows displayed on path HQT-OTTO even though its TTC is zero?
Although the TTC of path HQT-OTTO is zero, inadvertent interchanges occur between the Ontario and Québec systems because this interconnection is constantly serving a load.

7. Why do TTCs posted by Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie differ from neighboring system TTCs?
Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie's transmission capacity calculations comply with industry (viz. NPCC) standards and Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie favors coordinating posted TTC values. Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie is active in ongoing efforts by the competent agencies (NERC, NPCC and NAESB) to achieve uniform TTCs. Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie meanwhile posts its own values.

8. What is the TRM?
TRM stands for "transmission reliability margin" and is the NPCC standard calculation of capacity that the Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie cannot guarantee because of uncertainties and contingencies inherent in operating a power system.

9. What does point HQT represent?
Point HQT represents the Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie's power system, i.e., the Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie grid less its interconnections. Point HQT can be designated as a point of receipt or a point of delivery.

10. What's special about paths HQT-DYMO, HQT-CHNO, HQT-P33C, HQT-LAW, HQT-CRT?
Exporting over these interconnections entails synchronizing Québec generating units with a neighboring system. To do so requires prior agreement with the generating units' owner for each service request involving these paths.

The customer must include in the Customer Comments section of its OASIS service request the number and date of the agreement reached.

11. For wheel-through, must the service requests for receipt and delivery both be of the same class (firm or non-firm)?
It is not necessary but should a constraint occur on either path, the Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie will curtail service based on the class requested for that path.

12. Why is there a maximum of 1,000 lines displayed by OASIS in response to queries?
The 1,000-line maximum is to ensure that the OASIS computer system runs smoothly. It is still possible to retrieve the desired data by making several successive queries.

13. How can I have pages displayed in the language I want?
Static pages in English and French are processed separately when the server can determine your browser's language settings. If it cannot, the French home page is displayed by default with a link to the English home page.

The server tries to tell which language to display based on information sent by your browser when you access the home page. You can change the language displayed by adjusting your browser settings. If you have not set your browser to your preferred language (or can't with your browser or version), the server sends the French home page.

Pages displaying live OASIS data are built dynamically for every query. The OASIS site has many pages, which will be translated based on the demand.
