Files or services

Access to open data is obtained through queries in an application programming interface (API). For more information, consult the Données Québec [in French only] site.

Ongoing outages – API mode

This mode requires the use of three REST-style URLs.

First query: Obtain the updated version of the BIS file (“time stamp”)

Click on the URL below to obtain the service interruption report (BIS) file number.

URL: http://pannes.hydroquebec.com/pannes/donnees/v3_0/bisversion.json

Example of number: 20180418084019.

Second query: Obtain a JSON file containing the list of outages

Add the file number obtained for the previous request at the end of the following URL.

URL: http://pannes.hydroquebec.com/pannes/donnees/v3_0/bismarkers{BIS_VERSION}.json

Example :
http://pannes.hydroquebec.com/pannes/donnees/v3_0/bismarkers20180418084019.json

The list of outages specifies the date of the outage, the time at whichservice is expected to be restored and the geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the area affected.

Sample of the data associated with an outage:

{ "messages": {}, "pannes": [

    • The service status by region indicates the number of customers without power in each region of Québec. It includes the power outages and planned service interruptions that are currently underway. Unlike a power outage, a planned service interruption is an intentional interruption of service for a set period of time to carry out system maintenance.
    • All persons must take the necessary steps to mitigate damage that may be caused by an outage.
