The data on spinoffs from Phase I in terms of contracts and jobs for Crees is not available for the entire phase. However, it does provide an overview of probably Cree participation in hydropower development in the region at that time.

Between 1976 and 1980, 27 contracts worth $3.8 million were awarded to Native entities. This amount includes contracts awarded by SOTRAC for remedial work. Cree entities were awarded $3.3 million in contracts, which represents 0.03% of the total cost of Phase I. The remainder of the contracts destined for Native entities were awarded to Naskapi enterprises.

The Cree Construction Company (Québec) Ltd. obtained 83% of the contracts awarded to Cree entities, for a total of $2.7 million. The Grand Council of the Crees was the next highest beneficiary, with 12% of the contracts. The remaining 5% was distributed among the Cree Band Councils of Eastmain, Wemindji, Chisasibi, Mistissini, and the Sakami Eeyou Corporation.
