Construction Meskano Inc.
Construction Meskano, an Atikamekw company based in Wemotaci, specializes in roadwork, construction and land clearing. Founded in 2006 to take part in the Chute-Allard and Rapides-des-Cœurs hydroelectric project, the company has emerged as a key partner in numerous large-scale projects for Hydro-Québec and other clients.
If you’re a business-owner looking to do business with Hydro-Québec, set your mind at ease. They’re respectful and they listen to the people they work with.
Daniel Petiquay, President, Construction Meskano Inc.
Air Inuit
Founded in 1978 and owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, Air Inuit mainly serves the region’s 14 northern villages. The company has also been transporting Hydro‑Québec employees to jobsites and facilities in remote areas for over 30 years. In 2021, Hydro‑Québec renewed its contract with Air Inuit for a further 10 years‑the biggest active service contract ever awarded to an Indigenous firm by the public utility.
Hydro-Québec is one of our main partners. The 10-year contract we recently signed with them affords our company and staff a high degree of stability.
Christian Busch, President and CEO, Air Inuit
Uisht Construction inc.
Founded in 1995 following construction of the Sainte-Marguerite-3 hydroelectric development, this Innu company from Uashat mak Mani-utenam specializes in roadwork. With its dozen employees, Uisht has been maintaining the development’s access roads for over 30 years—a colossal undertaking that requires daily inspections, particularly in winter.
We want to send a message of perseverance to Indigenous businesses, but also one of honesty. This value that was handed down to us from our mother has served us well with our staff and with Hydro-Québec.
Raymond and Antoine Jourdain, respectively Uisht Construction’s President and Vice President.
