Anjou Substation and 315-kV Transmission Line
Start of work
As Hydro-Québec has obtained all government permitting required to carry out the project, construction can begin on the substation and new power line.
Over the coming months, crews will work on dismantling two 120-kV transmission lines between Bout-de-l’Île substation and the connection point to the Bélanger substation tap line, near Parc Ermanno-La Riccia. After dismantling work is completed in December 2023, construction will begin on the new 315-kV line and the new substation.
At the present time, preparatory work is also taking place near the future site of Anjou substation in order to relocate part of the electricity distribution system. This work should be completed by spring 2023.

Project overview
To counter the obsolescence of the transmission system and meet the growing electricity demand on the island of Montréal, Hydro‑Québec is gradually replacing its 120‑kilovolt (kV) facilities with new, higher capacity 315‑kV facilities.
Currently, a single 315-kV line supplies several substations in the north and east of the island of Montréal. The capacity of this line would be exceeded if it were to supply the other substations due to be connected by Hydro-Québec in the short and medium term.
For these reasons, Hydro‑Québec is building a new 315‑kV power line that will run for roughly 11 km from Bout‑de‑l’Île substation to the connection point to the Bélanger substation tap line, located near Boulevard Viau. The new line will be built in an existing right‑of‑way. The two 120‑kV lines that currently run through this right‑of‑way will be dismantled. In addition, a 315-kV switching substation—Anjou substation—will be built near the intersection of Autoroute 25 and Boulevard Henri‑Bourassa. Minor work is also planned in existing substations.
As well as increasing capacity, the new equipment will improve the power grid’s flexibility and reliability.
