Project description

Hydro‑Québec is planning to build a 315 kV substation and a 315 kV supply line. The project is designed to meet the growing demand for electricity in an area undergoing significant economic growth. A specific aim is to support the growth and long-term operability of Dorion substation.

This project will address numerous energy challenges, including:

  • Substation overloading at Dorion and Langlois
  • Sustained growth in the area
  • Difficulty fulfilling service connection requests in the area
  • Capacity issue on the 120 kV lines that cross the Fleuve Saint‑Laurent from Langlois substation
  • Major refurbishment of most of the main equipment at Dorion substation and upgrades to the automation systems
