Hydro-Québec will dismantle a 120‑kilovolt (kV) transmission line, as set out in our agreement with the Kahnawake Band Council.

This double-circuit line transmits electricity from Beauharnois generating station in Montérégie to Aqueduc substation in Montréal. The line segment to be dismantled crosses the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake as it runs from Châteauguay to the LaSalle borough over a distance of approximately 20 km, 1 km of which crosses the Fleuve Saint-Laurent (St. Lawrence River). Dismantling is possible thanks to the presence of a 315‑kV line in the area and to the conversion of Montréal’s power system to this voltage. The total project involves the removal of the conductors (cables) and the dismantling of 131 towers.
