Work and mitigation measures

Work will take place from June 10 to November 29  2019. Hydro-Québec is doing everything it can to minimize inconveniences for local residents and businesses and is collaborating with all stakeholders to find solutions with the least impact.

Description of work

Construction of the 120-kV underground line

  • Excavation of a 1-m-wide trench in the street, approximately 900 m at a time.
  • Installation and concreting of ducts at a depth of approximately 1.5 m.
  • Installation of splice vaults.
  • Backfilling of the trench and restoration of affected areas.
  • Cable pulling and backfilling of splice vaults.

Dismantling of the existing line

  • Removal of underground cables and electrical equipment.
  • Clearing and demolition of the upper parts of the splice vaults.
  • Backfilling and restoration of affected areas.

Related work

Related work will be carried out at both Saint-Maxime and Marie-Victorin substations.

  • Conductor pulling work near the five splicing chambers

    • Crews will work at each site for approximately three weeks

    Work period

    From August 12 to November 29, 2019, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. In exceptional cases, work may extend until 7 p.m.

    Dates are subject to change in the case of an unexpected event.

Main mitigation measures

  • The jobsite will be monitored and fences will be installed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Trenches will be closed and backfilled as work progresses.
  • Signs will be installed around the jobsite.
  • Residences, businesses and parking areas will remain accessible at all times.
  • Vehicle traffic will be maintained at all times.
  • A telephone number for information will be posted near the jobsite.
  • Work hours will take into account municipal regulations and issues of concern to the community, such as noise.
