Reconstruction of the 120-kV Underground Saint‑Maxime– Marie‑Victorin Line
Project overview
Continuation of dismantling operations
Dismantling operations will continue from March to June 2021.
Commissioned in 1967, the 120‑kV underground line between Saint‑Maxime and Marie‑Victorin substations has reached the end of its service life. Hydro-Québec rebuilt its first circuit in 2007 and its second circuit in 2019 to ensure the long-term operability of the power grid.
The reconstruction of the power line will ensure the reliability of the electricity service for approximately 12,500 customers in the Longueuil terminal, Université de Sherbrooke and Longueuil city centre sectors, and on Île Sainte-Hélène and Île Notre-Dame.
The last step of the project is dismantling the underground cables and electrical equipment of the old line.
Schedule for the last stage: Spring 2021
The environment: a top priority
The old line will be dismantled in accordance with current environmental standards. The splice vaults and drainage chambers will be decontaminated and the excavation work will be monitored by environmental experts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
