Visual simulation of Saint-Patrick substation.

Hydro-Québec has completed the construction of a new 315/25‑kV transformer substation, Saint-Patrick substation, to meet increasing demand and ensure the long-term operability of facilities, including Atwater substation. Atwater substation, commissioned in 1929, is one of the oldest on the island of Montréal. It has reached its peak capacity, and some of its equipment needs to be replaced.

The project also called for the construction of a short line to supply the new substation.

Saint-Patrick substation will enable Hydro-Québec to handle the area’s short- and long-term power needs, in tandem with Atwater substation.

Construction was performed as scheduled, and the substation was commissioned in spring 2019, as planned.
