Following the 2019 adoption of An Act to simplify the process for establishing electricity distribution rates, Hydro‑Québec is required to send information related to its electricity distribution activities, as well as comments received from the public, to the Régie de l’énergie on an annual basis. The 2022 information is contained in eight documents and can be viewed online using the following links.

Some 2022 highlights

Energy efficiency still a top priority

In 2022, Hydro-Québec continued to broaden its portfolio of energy efficiency initiatives. Spring 2022 marked the launch of the Energy Performance Indicator, which enables residential customers to consult all their energy use data at a glance, as well as better understand the factors that impact their bill and receive personalized recommendations. In addition, in May 2022, two new components were added to the Efficient Solutions Program for business customers: Energy Analysis and Small Businesses.

As shown in the 2022 follow-up presented in the Energy Efficiency [PDF 237 kB In French only] document, Hydro‑Québec exceeded the five-year energy savings targets set out in Québec’s Energy Transition, Innovation and Efficiency Master Plan 2018‑2023.

Significant increase in connection requests

As seen in 2020 and 2021, a large number of connection requests were placed in 2022. The high volume of work, combined with efforts to catch up on the backlog of requests from the two previous years, the labor shortage and extreme weather events that affected Québec, had a direct impact on the company’s ability to respond in the usual timeframes. Even so, while the average wait time for a single overhead connection rose from 7.9 days in 2021 to 11 days in 2022, the customer satisfaction index remained stable.
