Studies and investigations will continue until the end of 2021. Simultaneous work on certain structures has also begun. For this year, the work in progress mainly involves repairs to the dike at Les Cèdres generating station.

The structures of the Beauharnois–Les Cèdres complex were built between 50 and 107 years ago. Under the Dam Safety Act, Hydro-Québec, like all dam owners, is required to conduct safety inspections, studies and assessments on the structures it operates. Given the age of the complex's components, it is certain that work will be required in the future. The studies and investigations under way will allow us to determine the nature and extent of this work, which will extend the life of the complex by several decades, while respecting the requirements of the Dam Safety Act.

Studies and investigations will continue until the end of 2021. After that, Hydro-Québec will have to carry out engineering work to determine the most optimal technical, environmental and social solutions to ensure the long-term operability and safety of the complex for several decades to come. It is therefore too early to determine a work schedule. As soon as the schedule and the nature and scope of the work are known, Hydro-Québec will inform the public. Hydro-Québec works with community representatives on an ongoing basis to ensure that activities are carried out seamlessly. Once the nature of future projects is better known in light of the studies and investigations currently under way, we will consult the public through various means. The input received from the community will allow us to propose the best possible projects from a technical, environmental and social perspective.
