Registering for the Éconologis program
The tenant or the owner-occupant must have registered for the Éconologis program after September 30, 2025, to receive a heat pump or thermostats offered by Hydro‑Québec at no cost. The program is seasonal. It runs from October 1 to March 31 each year.

The program is designed for modest-income households. It is up to your tenant to take the necessary steps, by registering for the Éconologis program. Hydro‑Québec will then make a feasibility visit and confirm that your tenant can have a heat pump installed at no cost. At that point, you will have a role to play.
To be eligible, you must have participated in the Éconologis Program after September 30, 2025. An Éconologis advisor will visit your home to assess your eligibility for the Hydro‑Québec program. If you are eligible, Hydro‑Québec get in touch with you by email or phone.
The program offers the following devices free of charge:
- a wall-mounted high-efficiency heat pump,
- smart thermostats, if a heat pump cannot be installed.
No. Eligibility depends on your home, the installer’s evaluation as well as technical criteria.
The heat pump, installation and visits are free of charge. The homeowner will have nothing to pay.
A file can be suspended (no answer, missed appointment) or permanently closed (refusal to participate, missing documents, two missed appointments, non-compliance of home). These rules apply to the tenant and building owner.
- If you are a tenant: contact your landlord, who will contact the installer.
- If you are the building owner: contact the installer directly.
The heat pumps generally have a 10-year warranty. However, you are responsible for maintenance.
Hydro‑Québec must produce an RL‑27 tax slip when the homeowner receives a grant. The information is sent by email in a secure manner.
No. The landlord cannot increase the rent due to work carried out under the program. Tenants are protected by provincial regulations in this regard.
