What’s your monthly installment based on? Why does it have to be adjusted? How do you use the EPP tracking tool? This video answers those questions.
We estimate your annual electricity cost and spread it out over 12 equal monthly installments. This makes your budget easier to manage.
If you have a consumption history of about 11 consecutive months at the same address, we base your monthly installment on:
If your home is a new building and does not yet have a consumption history, we estimate the electricity consumption for the first year based on the capacity of your electrical installation. Since your actual consumption can differ from the estimate during this period, sign up for the email alert to be notified if it does. You can then adjust your monthly installment using the EPP tracking tool.
The annual review determines your EPP balance. It finds any difference between the cost of the electricity you used during the period covered and the total amount you were billed for. Your annual electricity cost may be determined to be lower or higher than anticipated.
If you use less electricity than you are billed for, you will have a credit that will be applied to future bills.
If you use more electricity than you are billed for, you will have an EPP balance due, which will be spread out over the next 12 monthly installments. You may also pay the amount in full if you prefer.
The annual review also determines the amount of your monthly installments for the next 12 months.
To avoid having an EPP balance due at your annual review, you can change your monthly installment to reflect your actual electricity use at anytime from your Customer Space.
You can make things even simpler by signing up to receive an email alert if your consumption is different than expected.
Signing up for an EPP is free and enables you to spread out your annual electricity cost over 12 equal payments. No administration charges or interest will be applied.
You can cancel the EPP at any time by going to your Customer Space or contacting customer services.
Hydro-Québec may cancel the plan if you miss more than one monthly installment. You will have to pay any outstanding balance on the due date of your next bill.
To sign up for the EPP, your balance must be $0. In other words, you have to pay your last electricity bill in full. When you cancel the EPP, you have to pay off your balance in full on the due date of your next bill.
Make managing your account even easier by using all three services: Online Billing, Pre-authorized Debit and the Equalized Payments Plan (EPP).
