Frequently asked questions
My ETS heating system is displaying the wrong time. How can I reset it?
Follow the instructions to set the clock. [PDF 72 kB].
It’s very important to set the right time on your ETS heating system. The time of day determines when the system’s elements shut off so you can start saving with Rate Flex D. The clock should keep time, even in the event of a power failure, but you may have to reset it if the outage lasts several days.
Because you use your heating system in the winter, always set the clock to Eastern Standard Time.
Where can I find the technical specifications for my ETS heating system?
The technical specifications for the ETS home heating systems sold in Québec are detailed in these brochures:
Steffes 4210 (Serenity) [PDF 1.10 MB]
Steffes 4120 (Comfort Plus) [PDF 1.20 MB]
More information is also available on the Steffes website.
My ETS heating system doesn’t seem to be working properly. What should I do?
If you’re having difficulty using your system or if it doesn’t seem to be working as it should, contact the installer. Your system may still be under warranty. You can also contact another authorized Steffes dealer.
Is ETS available for hot-water (hydronic) heating systems?
Yes, it is, but the systems aren’t currently available in Québec.
Is it really worth it to sign up for Rate Flex D?
All dynamic pricing rate options can help you save, provided you’re able to reduce or shift your electricity use outside peak demand events (< 100 hours/year). The good news is that these events represent less than 4% of the total hours in winter. With Rate Flex D, you receive a credit on your consumption for over 96% of the total winter hours. Heating accounts for about 50% of a household’s electricity bill, so electric thermal storage is a simple and easy solution to reduce your electricity use.
