Beginning a contract

You have received a contract with Hydro-Québec and you’re not sure where to start? The following steps will help you get started.

Be careful!

The following details are provided for information purposes only and may not apply to your contract. Be sure to always refer to your contract for the terms and conditions that apply.

The five main steps to take at the beginning of your contract

Prepare yourself by consulting the following list

1. Provide to Hydro‑Québec the documents specified in your contract

At the beginning of a contract, some documents are or may be necessary in order to meet Hydro‑Québec’s requirements.

Some examples are provided below:

  • Performance bond
  • Insurance certificate
  • Undertaking respecting confidentiality
  • A list of your subcontractors
  • A list of your employees
  • Emergency measures plan and a list of emergency contacts
  • Quality plan

2. Participate in a start‑up meeting

The start-up meeting is designed to ensure that all parties understand the contract requirements and to communicate with the Hydro‑Québec contract administrator and other stakeholders.

This meeting may be necessary based on the nature and complexity of the contract.

3. Initiate the background check for external resources who need access privileges

Within the framework of certain contracts, external resources must undergo a background check in order to gain access to our buildings and facilities, to confidential information or to our computer systems.

4. Follow any necessary training

Depending on their field of activity, some suppliers must commit to undergoing training.

5. Pick up any material that Hydro‑Québec is contractually required to provide

If Hydro‑Québec is required to provide you with any equipment or material, you must pick it up in a designated location.

The specifications and quantities regarding equipment or materials may be indicated in your contract.
