Additional Electricity Option for Photosynthetic Lighting or Space Heating to Raise Crops

Eligibility

The rate option for raising crops applies to a Rate D, DP, DM, G, M, G9 or LG contract when the following criteria are met:

• The customer uses photosynthetic lighting or an electric heating system.
• The maximum power demand under the contract has been at least 50 kilowatts (kW) during a consumption period included in the 12 months preceding the date of the sign-up request. Ideally, this threshold should be reached between April and November to avoid charges related to a minimum billing demand.
• The greenhouse is equipped with a communicating meter installed by Hydro‑Québec.

Conditions of application

If you sign up for the rate option for raising crops, Hydro-Québec may occasionally ask you to scale back your electricity consumption so as not to exceed your reference power during a given period of time.

During such unauthorized periods, you must turn off the photosynthetic lighting and/or electric heating system powered under this rate option and use an auxiliary energy source such as a generator instead, if needed.

Your reference power is determined according to your consumption profile at the time you sign up. It is based on the installed load that is not used for photosynthetic lighting or space heating to raise crops.

Subject to installation of the appropriate metering equipment, agreement on the reference power and Hydro‑Québec’s written approval, the option takes effect within 15 business days following receipt of your registration form.
